Некомерційна організація DuraSpace була заснована в 2009 році, внаслідок об'єднання зусиль організацій Fedora Commons і DSpace Foundation - найбільших постачальників програмного забезпечення з відкритим вихідним кодом для управління і забезпечення доступу до
цифрового змісту.
Організація отримала багаж технологій з відкритим кодом,
розроблених за участю бібліотекарів, архівістів, дослідників і технологів, які поділяють ідеї створення і збереження довгострокового доступу до цифрової спадщини світу.
Спільноти DSpace і Fedora використовували цей процес для створення програмної платформи, яка використовується в більш ніж тисячі установ у ста країнах світу.

April 2, 2017 died Maydo Rahula, Professor of the University of Tartu (Estonia), a member of the editorial board of the journal "Proceedings of the International Geometric Center", a member of the International Scientific Committee of the Conference Geometry in Odessa.
